Native Zoom Recording

Last updated:

The native Zoom recording provides the best user experience and recording quality when using Zoom web-conferencing. Lace follows the same business rules to decide which Zoom calls should be imported and analyzed for both native Zoom recording and when using the Lace notetaker. In case native Zoom recording is not possible, Lace falls back to the notetaker.

Prerequisites for Native Zoom Integration

The Native Zoom integration requires that Lace is connected with your calendar. For more information, visit the Calendar integration article.

Note This integration is supported for the Zoom Pro, Business and Enterprise tiers. The steps below must be performed by a Zoom account administrator or a user who is authorized to modify the Zoom user settings.

In the Zoom user settings make sure:

  • Cloud Recording is toggled ON.
  • Automatic recording can be toggled ON or OFF.
  • At least one of the following is enabled:
    • Record active speaker with shared screen
    • Record gallery view with shared screen
    • Record active speaker, gallery view and shared screen separately
  • Record a separate audio file of each participant is toggled ON (required for speaker names in call transcripts)

Setting up the Integration in Lace

Follow these steps to setup the Native Zoom integration in Lace:

  • Make sure you are signed-in into Lace with your Lace account

Using the Native Zoom Integration

How does the Zoom Native Integration Work?

Once your calendar and the Zoom native recording integrations have been connected, Lace will automatically track Zoom meetings for calendar events which you host and will pull the Zoom recording for analysis. For such events, Lace displays an indicator in the Upcoming events list to show that they will be processed with Zoom native recording. Remember to start cloud recording for those events during the Zoom session to ensure Lace has a recording to process.

When the Zoom session ends, Lace will create an entry in the Past Meetings list where the results from analyzing the call such as summary and a follow up email will be published.

Removing the Native Zoom Integration

Follow these steps to remove the Native Zoom integration from Lace:

  1. Login to your Zoom Account and navigate to the Zoom App Marketplace.
  2. Click Manage >> Added Apps or search for the "Lace" app.
  3. Click the "Lace" app.
  4. Click Remove.
  5. Log in to, then navigate to the integrations view
  6. Find the Zoom native tile and click Disconnect

After removing the Zoom native integration, Lace will no longer pull recordings from Zoom and will use the notetaker participant for recording Zoom calls. The recordings for already processed Zoom calls along with the analysis artifacts (summaries, follow up emails, etc.) will remain available in your Lace account.

We hope this article helped you setup the Zoom native integration with Lace. If you have any questions about using Lace, please contact us.
